Deutsche Bank promotes Eigendorf to the position of chief sustainability officer

Deutsche Bank (ETR:DBKGn) named Joerg Eigendorf chief sustainability officer on Wednesday. The bank sees itself as a lender firms can rely on as they transition to a greener future.

Deutsche Bank (ETR:DBKGn) announced on Wednesday the appointment of Joerg Eigendorf to the position of chief sustainability officer, as the bank portrays itself as a lender that enterprises can rely on as they transition to a greener future.

Eigendorf once oversaw Deutsche’s communications section, but he is relinquishing that responsibility to focus only on sustainability.

“Sustainability is a fundamental success factor for our bank and a pillar of our Global Hausbank strategy,” said CEO Christian Sewing, to whom Eigendorf will report.

The modification takes effect on September 1.

Last month, activists demanded that Deutsche Bank do more to cease supporting fossil fuel corporations.
