Today, Axios claims that Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ:MSFT) downsized its employment by about 1,000 employees.
Microsoft reported a headcount of over 220,000 at the end of the second quarter, thus the current round of layoffs affected less than one percent of its total staff. The software company announced earlier that it is reducing certain positions, but the total workforce is likely to expand in the long run.
This decision was made by Microsoft after the corporation reduced its personnel by less than 1 percent in early July. Later in the same month, Microsoft announced that it will terminate numerous available positions.
Microsoft has joined other large technology businesses in reducing global employment and expenses in response to the slowing global economy. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL), informed staff to anticipate a recruiting slowdown for the balance of 2022.
