Airbus staged the first flight of its newest and biggest narrowbody airliner, the A321XLR, on Wednesday as the European aircraft manufacturer attempts to capitalize on the lucrative demand for long-range single-aisle planes.
The twin-engined passenger aircraft took flight from a plant in Hamburg, Germany, at 11:05 a.m. local time (0905 GMT), ahead of more than a year of testing before the next member to the best-selling A320 medium-haul family enters service in 2024.
